Fat Tuesday Pancake Dinner

Tonight, February 21 at 6pm the Advisory Team is hosting a Pancake Dinner for Fat Tuesday in Fellowship Hall. They will be serving pancakes (gluten free available), sausage, fruit, and beverages. This delicious breakfast for dinner is open to the community. We look forward to seeing you there! Donations accepted.

Ash Wednesday

We are excited to have a Fat Tuesday Dinner this year to mark the beginning of Lent on Wednesday, February 22! We will not be having an Ash Wednesday service but will have a drop-in time available for anyone who would like to receive ashes. Ashes will be offered in the library from 6-7pm. Please use the side entrance on Center Road.

New Podcast Episode: Bursting Wineskins

Hello and welcome to our podcast! This week we conclude season 2- exploring what the Bible is and what it means to us. We hope that these episodes provide an opportunity for listeners to explore the role the Bible plays in their spiritual lives while listening to discussions led by our Senior Pastor-Robin, Minister of Music and Creative Arts-Leanne and Associate Pastor-Alisa.

This second season of our podcast is centered on discussions drawn from the chapters of Peter Enns’ book, “How the Bible Actually Works.” Episode six features a conversation on chapter 11, “Reimagining God the Jesus Way.”

We hope you’ll join us for this journey! If you would like to explore these discussions further, we encourage you to get the book and read along with us!

We will be taking a break after this episode and look forward to releasing season 3 of our podcast in the early Spring!

Line Dancing Party

We will be having our line dance party this Friday, February 24th from 7-9pm. Stop by for some refreshments, a raffle, and fun dancing what we learned in this session.

Theology on Tap is Taking This Week Off

Theology on Tap will start up again on Thursday, March 2 at 6pm at Mitchell’s Restaurant located at 1237 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon. Come join us.

Women’s Fellowship is Looking for Donations

Believe it or not, we are thinking ahead to our next fair (November 4th). We're hoping to get some crafts done during these cold dreary months. We will be meeting on some Wednesdays to craft together. Our first meeting will be on March 1 at 9:30am. Check here for future dates.

We are hoping for donations of the following items:

Old wool sweaters, holes are OK (for mittens)
Wide mouth mason jars
Old wooden sleds
Old skates (for decor)
Baskets
Fillers for baskets (tea towels, soaps, jams, tea)
Shallow containers (to force bulbs in)
A wood worker with a jigsaw and some scrap wood to cut something from a pattern we provide.
Unique gifts-handmade or antiques (for the silent auction

Food Banks and Missions Bins

The Cornerstone and Hockanum Valley food banks are in urgent need for non-perishable food supplies and personal goods. The high cost of these items for our neighbors in need has left our food banks struggling to meet the demand.

Please drop off goods in the bins in the narthex or the lower-level entryway.

MOST NEEDED ITEMS

Spaghetti sauce in plastic jars (such as Francesco Rinaldi), canned pasta, cans of condensed soup, 4-packs of pudding cups, pouches of instant potatoes, salad dressing (small bottles, about 8 ounces), rice side dishes (such as Rice-A-Roni, Knorr side dishes), Pasta Roni or Hamburger helper, dry pasta (macaroni, spaghetti, noodles, etc.), Ramen noodles, canned vegetables, diapers size 5 and up, cans of beans (baked, black, cannellini, etc.), peanut butter, jelly, canned tuna, cereal, boxes of macaroni and cheese, soap

Silver Lake Summer Camp Registration Opens Weds., March 1 at 9 am!

We are planning to have five (5) 1-week sessions (Sunday-Saturday) this summer, running from July 2 through August 5.

Each grade (entering 4-12th) will have at least one program available during each week, some weeks may have more than one program for some grades to choose from. Plus, there will be half-week family camp programs for all ages and one week of day camp for campers entering grades 1-3.

We are still finalizing the summer schedule and recruiting a few more Deans, but we will be sharing the scheduled programs soon. If you are interested in being a volunteer Dean, please contact us as soon as possible.

Wednesday Walkers they meet at 10am on Wednesdays at the Vernon Rail Trail parking lot on Church Street.

Men’s Fellowship Breakfast meet at 7am on Thursdays at the Vernon Diner.

Bible study will now meet in Kellogg Hall starting, February 27th at 10:45am.
Our friend Adam Hamilton has a new Lenten series which we will use entitled, The Way; Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus. This study includes a video presentation for each lesson. Plan on joining us for this special Lenten program.

The Grief Support Group continues to meet on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. in the Church Library.

Anyone who has lost a loved one is invited to attend, and the group is not limited to FCCV members. ALL are welcome and you can bring other family members and/or a friend to the group.
